ψ(r,t) is a wave function describing the probabilities of a quantum particle’s position at any point in time. In comic books, to sustain the battle (a protagonist’s opportunity to prevail) any form of energy can be converted to any other form instantaneously (and with 100% efficiency). Together with the Uncertainty Principle, ΔPΔX ≥ ℏ/2, which tells us that r and t cannot be measured at the same time, knowing the wave function of quantum particles lays the foundation for quantum reality. We suspend our disbelief for as long as needed to trust that determination and commitment to honor and right can always provide a last burst of energy (from whatever source is needed) to overcome all odds. The dilemma of uncertainty leads to a Gedanken experiment, often referred to as Schrodinger’s Cat. This determination is greater than the determination to do evil because it is founded on love and unselfishness. The thought experiment postulates that since a quantum particle’s position or momentum, but not both, are only determined when measured, the particle must exist in superposition (before a measurement is made). That no matter how often we fall, no matter how often we disappoint ourselves, we always maintain the opportunity to pick ourselves up and make things right. i is an imaginary number. This does not make reality imaginary since i merely stands in for the √-1 long enough to solve a mathematical calculation. ℏ is the reduced Plank constant (which = 1.054571817.X 10−34J/s). Power is accidental—like accidental properties. In other words, those pesky physical properties of matter that just happen to constitute the tangible nature of an object, but not the substance. Not the real, meaningful reality. If special powers were not bolstered accidentally by gamma rays, toxic chemicals, or spider bite, then how are we to believe the recipient worthy? As the wave function changes across spans of time, ∂/∂t. A cat inside a box. We know as children that falling does not depend on looking down. That’s why we laugh. Expectations violated create comforting incongruities. Tangible reality emerges from quantum reality but cannot be reduced to it. Subjected to a random release of toxin, must be both dead and alive before looking inside. Even as adults, we relive childhood innocence by chuckling over silliness and suspending disbelief long enough to allow an alternate reality. To replace our vulnerabilities for just a few moments. This does not make tangible reality inexistant, just not meaningful when discussing substance. Since we are unable to determine the state of the cat without looking (measuring). We assure ourselves; we know where to draw the lines in our own lives between being entertained and being fooled. The product of i•ℏ•∂/∂tψ(r,t) = the reduced Plank constant squared divided by twice the mass of a quantum particle (not all quantum particles, namely photons and neutrinos, have mass, but are affected by gravity due to the curvature of space-time). Superman and the Hulk are as strong as they need to be to prevail in any situation—but only just—to maintain the tension of the story. The illusion that defeat is possible. So that we can believe that no matter what obstacles we encounter, no matter how close we come to total dismay and destruction. Just give us a moment to recover, to regather our strength—through strength of will—and we will rise to any occasion. Indomitable, invincible. Garnering whatever strength we need to conquer our insecurities. ∇ 2ψ(r,t) is the divergence of location in any given time—divergence being the range of change possible. Though usually, two states for any specific property (dead or alive, for instance). If any gene could convey any ability—as simple as reading minds or walking through walls; or as complex as changing shape and identity instantly with only cursory knowledge of the mind of the person recreated—merely a glimpse and all secrets are available—then surely a single person can change the world. A person comprised of thousands of genes interacting into chaos of complexity from which mind emerges, and free will. Before we open the box? After we open the box? Superposition is an indeterminate state. Allowing altruism and determination of heroism. So, we are willing to suspend disbelief and believe in the power of a single gene because we all hope to be that single person who can and will do whatever it takes to prevail. U(r)ψ(r,t) is the universal set of all possible locations and times. So, after all is said and done, it all boils down to quantum physics. No matter the cause –radiation or toxic chemical—–No matter the emergent trait—telekinesis, super strength, X-ray vision or ability to walk through walls. All superpowers derive from the hero’s ability to control their wave-function. It’s as simple as that. So, if you wish to be the hero, concentrate. Bring your mind in tune with the mathematics of your existence. In other words, learn to be completely present and absent at the same time, and you too can save the world, if not yourself.
